Bigs of BBBS of Metro Detroit

A Message From Bigs of BBBS of Metro Detroit

Our Bigs are the heart of our mission. Though our mentors are volunteers, each match is guided by a professionally-trained staff member with a background in education, social work, or other human services field. Behind every match, our program staff partners with parents, teachers, and other support personnel to maximize benefits for each child.

First, and most importantly, your donation will provide the financial resources to build our capacity to move youth off our waiting list and into a meaningful, life-changing relationship with a mentor, called a Big Brother or Big Sister.

Second, your donation will help us enhance volunteer recruitment, as well as implement ongoing JEDI training for our volunteers, mentors, families, staff, and others who connect with our youth. As a result, youth will be surrounded by allies who understand the impact of racial and social injustice, and who are equipped with strategies
to help youth thrive.

Next, funds will be used to strengthen our equity programming with a focus on youth social emotional wellbeing and academic success, along with a plan and roadmap for the future.

Finally, donations will help us educate our community about the invaluable role Big Brothers Big Sisters plays in moving youth toward success.

Step Up BIG Detroit!

About This Campaign

Step Up BIG Detroit! is an invitation to join the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters, a leading youth empowerment organization inspired to create equity and empowerment for the children and youth in our community who need us the most.

WHO WE ARE:
Our vision is for all youth to achieve their full potential. At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit our mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. We work with youth, 7 - 17 years old in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.

Every year, youth in our programs see better academic performance, achieve their goals, experience meaningful relationships, see a better outlook on life, avoid risky behavior — like skipping school, drugs or fighting, and so much more. In other words, these young people are on their way to BIG, bright futures!

YOUR GIFT WILL HELP US:
-Move youth off our waiting list and into a meaningful, life-changing relationship with a mentor, called a Big Brother or Big Sister.

-Enhance volunteer recruitment, as well as implement ongoing JEDI training for our volunteers, mentors, families, staff, and others who connect with our youth.

-Strengthen our equity programming with a focus on youth social emotional wellbeing and academic success, along with a plan and roadmap for the future.

-Educate our community about the invaluable role Big Brothers Big Sisters plays in moving youth toward success.

When you step up to support Big Brothers Big Sisters, you are doing something powerful to lift up the dreams of young persons left at a disadvantage by the deep divisions in our country surrounding race, prejudice, privilege, class, and perspective.

Step Up BIG Detroit! is an opportunity to make a commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion [JEDI] in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters. Whether you’re an individual, corporation, foundation, or group, you believe that every child should be provided with what they need to achieve their full potential.

You can help expand the reach of Big Brothers Big Sisters throughout metro Detroit and connect more youth to a trained mentor who will provide friendship, opportunities, information, and resources to broaden their horizons about what is possible in life.

Supporters of this campaign become a part of an informed allyship, pulling together and affirming that every youth be given an equitable opportunity to achieve success.

Join us by STEPPING UP BIG to help change young lives today!
